From the Fall 2018 Issue
President’s Message
Programs by Managers, for Managers
As we move into the fall months, ACMO Committees are preparing to launch new services and enhance existing activities. Executive members are also meeting on governance as we position ACMO for the future. A strong association provides opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, career resources, invaluable networking and quite simply allows members to stay motivated and broaden their knowledge outside of the confines of their daily jobs.
Our new Membership Committee, comprised of long time RCM members as well as those newer to ACMO, has been meeting over the summer months. Sharing the needs of CEOs, managers, and geographical differences, this committee has also explored the value proposition of high profile established associations with services that parallel government mandated licensing. I look forward to reporting details following the September board meeting where plans and strategies will be received and approved.
ACMO recently revised our Code of Professional Ethics to complement CMRAO’s Code of Conduct for Licensed Managers. Among other changes, the complaint process has been modified to work in conjunction with CMRAO’s discipline procedures. A printable copy of the new code was recently emailed to all RCMs.
Our executive director’s column in this issue focuses on the development of CE webinar modules which have been prepared as the continuing education requirement for managers renewing their licences in July 2019. The module “Continuing Education for Licensing, delivered by ACMO” will launch later in the fall and further solidifies ACMO as the leading provider of education for condominium managers in Ontario.
Speaking of educat ion, each September marks the beginning of a new education season at ACMO. Our Continuing Education Committee along with the Professional Development Committee and Board of Directors continually strive to strengthen our educational offerings to ensure condominium managers are prepared to fulfil their professional obligations each and every day. ACMO’s RCM designation sets a higher standard in the industry than a licence. The comprehensive exam, additional continuing education requirements, and access to a large network of industry professionals equip RCMs to be the leaders within the condominium management profession.
ACMO is proud to have supported managers, and indeed the condominium community for more than 40 years. Our educational offerings, networking events and advocacy platforms have been developed by managers for managers seeking to ensure the professional management of the communities our members serve.
On a personal level, we should also be proud of the role we play every day making condominium living a great choice. I value the sharing and support received from so many other managers, and look forward to seeing many of you at upcoming ACMO events as well as Condo Conference 2018. Thank you!
Live for today and enjoy the moment
