Achieving Boma Best Silver
At High Park Lofts (437 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto) which is a geothermal building, we have changed toilets (the Board gave each resident a rebate of $100.00 for each low flow toilet installed), changed faucet aerators (the Board paid all the cost) and will be offering all residents the opportunity to replace shower heads with low-flow shower heads all at the Board’s costs.
We have a recycling committee that posts notices about recycling practices and we encourage all residents, regularly, to participate in our extensive recycling program. All lighting in the building has been changed to energy efficient lighting.
As there is no LEED® certification for existing buildings, the Energy Committee applied for a Boma Best® Certification and had to meet certain criteria for energy and green initiatives. We have received notification that our submission was approved and we achieved the Silver Certification. (See photo at far right.

Green Options in Hotel Management
We reduced the building’s carbon footprint by:
- installing on the water booster pumps fervency drives, which will speed up the pumps or do the opposite, depending on the building’s water demand
- retrofitting lighting so that only LED lights are in use throughout - installing water-saving toilets and water-saving shower heads
- placing motion sensors on AC units
- installing photocells on all exterior lighting
